About

Hi, I’m Nick. As a teacher educator I spend a great deal of my time thinking about and experimenting with how to best design and deliver professional development in order to help teachers get better.

I’m obsessed with the nitty gritty of how schools can practically implement highly effective educational approaches, informed by the latest evidence-base, in ways that are most likely to improve teaching and the lives of pupils.

I’ve been a science teacher, instructional coach, windsurfing instructor and Master’s tutor (though not necessarily in that order).

I currently work for Ambition Institute, where I split my time between working on our Master’s programme, working on learning design and strategy, and leading the Teacher Education Fellows (the coolest and/or nerdiest fellowship in the world, IMO).

I also work with school leaders in the UK and internationally to help them deliver the best teacher development possible: developing and implementing coaching systems, honing approaches to curriculum and assessment, and ultimately aiming to improve education for the young people we serve. To find out more about working with me, get in touch.

This blog is a way for me to share some of the things that I’ve learnt along the way, alongside unruly questions I’m still grappling with. Open to challenge, questions and pointers in new directions; this is a personal blog and all words are my own.
